Excited about Windows? It’s a crazy world…

Who would’ve thought it? Apparently a surge in demand caused by people trying to download Windows 7 Beta crashed the Microsoft website on Friday 9 Jan, the original release date. Is this because we’re all suddenly excited by Windows again? I thought that we all used it but with a “well, we have to for work and stuff and, well, you know…” sort of attitude. People get excited about Apple, or Linux, or perhaps some new Google app, but Microsoft!? Maybe we were all so disappointed with Vista, and by now utterly bored by XP, that folks are downloading anything that will replace it. Or perhaps the MS advertising campaign (I’m a PC) is actually working; I have to admit that I actually rather like it. How would yours go? Perhaps “I’m a PC and I’ve finally learnt not to hate myself for it”?

Anyway, you’ll be delighted to learn that MS have added more servers etc to support their download page and you can get your very own Windows 7 Beta (please do note the ‘Beta’ – it’s technically for testing and it has glitches and MS offer no support) from the download page. The Windows 7 team blog will give you some insight into the development of the product.
